Violence is not inevitable and can be prevented through education, strengthening legislation, supporting victims and promoting a culture of respect.
Only with a collective commitment, which involves families, schools, institutions and civil society, can we reduce violence and build a fairer and safer world for all.
WHAT WE CAN DO
- Educate on gender equality,
- Use the media to spread messages against violence,
- Promote a culture of respect and equality.
- Promote laws that severely punish those who commit violence against women, ensuring that victims can obtain justice quickly and effectively.
- Identify signs of domestic violence or abuse in its early stages and intervene early to prevent greater harm.
