THE DANGERS OF SMOKE
When it comes to smoke there are some ‘key pieces’ of advice that are interesting to consider, if you are trying to quit or thinking ‘bout the risks.
-understand the risks
-consider quitting
-nicotine is addictive
-use alternatives or harm reduction strategies
-seek support

TYPES OF CIGARETTES:
1- Cigarettes do not have a healthy impact because they contain tobacco and a lot of chemicals,
many of which are toxic. Nicotine is highly addictive.
2- Pipes and Cigars: like original cigarettes they contain a lot of tobacco and can increase the risk of cancer and contain nicotine.
3- E-Cigarettes: vaping is less harmful than normal cigarettes because they don’t burn
tobacco, but they deliver nicotine in the form of vapor;however vaping has risks, like
cugarettes containing nicotine.
4- Iqos: is a type of tobacco system that heats tobacco instead of burning it. While this might
reduce exposure to harmful toxics, the effects are not known at all as they contain nicotine.
The safest option is not smoke at all, as iqos and vaping are safer, but all forms of nicotine
use have risks.
People smoke for a variety of reasons, which can also be psychological.
Here are some of them:
–Nicotine addiction;
–Stress relief and coping mechanism: many people turn to smoking as a way to cope with
stress, anxiety or emotional discomfort; – Social and peer pressure: influences can play a significant role, especially among teenagers
or young adults. Peer pressure can encourage individuals to start, continue smoking and make them think it’s worth doing;
-Habit and routine;
-Perceived enjoyment and pleasure: some people,including me,smoke just because we enjoy
the act, as it is one of the best sensations, because it leaves me chill, it brings me peace, I
don’t think about anything bad, but I’ve tried and I’m still trying to quit, because I know it is
better for me and there are more things that I can do to stay chill or be happy;
-Cultural or family influence;
-Weight control;
-Remember: smoking is an awful habit and should be avoided for the benefits of our mental
and physical health. It can damage our lungs leading to deadly diseases such as cancer and
pneumonia.
